From San Francisco
The village of Woodside is approximately 45 minutes south of San Francisco just off of the major freeway 280. Take the Woodside Road exit toward the west and note your mileage indicator as you leave the freeway. You will be on Woodside Road which is also State Highway 84.
Continue through the small village of Woodside past some horse properties until you come to a green sign saying Highway 84 to La Honda. This sign is approximately 3.0 miles from the freeway. Continue on 84 toward La Honda. If in doubt always follow the double yellow line, it indicates Highway 84.
Past the green sign the road will climb steeply up the side of a mountain, with many twists and curves, through some Redwood groves. There are few if any places to turn off. The street you are seeking is Skywood Way which turns to the right off of 84, approximately 2.6 miles from the green sign, or 5.6 miles from the freeway. If you do not find Skywood Way, in a few more turns you will come to an intersection with a blinking red light. This is too far, go back.
Turn right ( the only way) on Skywood Way, go one block and turn right on Sunrise Drive, come down to 140 on the right hand side and come through the gates. If the gate should be closed, you will see a green box on the left hand gatepost. Open it and press the button.

Warning: If you are consulting a Yahoo map, the map seems to indicate that the street turning off of Highway 84 is named Still Creek Road. It is not. It is named and the sign is posted Skywood Way.
- From the East Bay
Cross the bay on the Bay Bridge to 101 and take the 280/Daly City exit to get onto Highway 280, then proceed as above. Alternatively, cross the bay on the San Mateo Bridge (Highway 92) and follow the signs to 280.
- From San Jose
Proceed north on 280 until you come to the Woodside Road Exit. Take this exit to the west and continue as above.
- From the West
From the town of Half Moon Bay, take Highway 92 east for 4.5 miles until you come to the intersection of 92 and Highway 35, then 35 south for 7 miles until you come to the intersection of 35 and Highway 84. This intersection has a blinking red light, some gas stations, restaurants and stores , known locally as “The Junction” . Take Highway 84 east, toward the bay not the ocean, for 1.0 mile and turn left on Skywood Way – the first left turn you can make. Go one block and turn right on Sunri
se Drive, come down to 140 on the right hand side and come through the gates. If the gate should be closed, you will see a green box on the left hand gatepost. Open it and press the button.
An alternative way from Half Moon Bay is to drive south on Highway 1 for about 7 miles to the intersection of Highway 84, turn inland and drive 8 miles to “The Junction”. Then proceed as above.
